Mom's the word...

When you pass a beautiful house do you think about the nails that hold it together? or the roots of the trees that make the yard look good?
Well, I think you know from my blog I have an unbelievable family...but there is one person that makes my family great---she doesn't stand in the spotlight---but she is the bulb that lights up the person on stage...My mom is probably one of the finest people God ever put on this earth---she is extremely caring, very unselfish, and has one of the biggest hearts in the world...she has been there for me for 39 years...
I had asthma when I was a kid -- I would wake up in the middle of the night and couldn't breathe--so I would go outside in the cool air--and in a minute the door would open and out would come my Mom..and she would sit with me til I could go back to sleep...over the years she has given and given and given of herself, her energy and her time and love to me and my sister and to our entire family---

Thanks Mom---I love You...

My first one....

If you go back down a couple of posts to the Jerry Springer one I wrote and check the comments, you will see I received my very first Negative comment on here....I decided to post about it because First---they didnt sign their name. Isnt it funny how we love to talk bad about people, but never want them to know who it is doing the talking....
I've heard numerous Pastors say they get letters in the mail that were unsigned about something somebody didnt like...One of my Pastors says he checks to see if it is signed first...if not---he doesnt even read it ---it goes straight to the garbage...
Secondly --I found it extremely amusing---for some reason --this person thinks I think I'm perfect...Which, you can tell by reading my blog, "I aint even close"...I never said I was perfect--just blessed...I say that over and over again--

For some reason, even with all my imperfections, God has seen fit to bless me with a life and family I love....

The comment actually made me feel better about my life and myself---aint it funny how negatives can be turned into positives...

Lower Mississippi . . .

Well, Im sitting in Bay St Louis Mississippi. Had to drive down to do a little work...I was talking to the lady who checked me into the hotel and she was talking a little about the hurricane tragedy that happened down here...The room I am sitting in was under water---she said that boats were pulling up to the second floor to rescue people...its kind of surreal...she said she was here when it happened and it is just something hard to describe...But one thing I love about this country and the people in it is the resilience...we get back up---we rebuild and overall our attitudes or positive...we dont lay down for long---

We are a people to be proud of---I know there is a lot of bad in the country---but I like the fight that we have...

Springer has Sprung...

I have a term I use all the time---When someone is being immature or just plain stupid---I like to say they are acting all "Jerry Springer"....If you have ever seen even a portion of the show---you know it the "Lowest Common Denominator" in human society....Believe me there are a lot of "Springer" people out there...and I have run into a few over the last couple of days...

If you happen to read my blog----you wont even know who you are---because --"Springer" people are too busy being childish to stand back and try to be a person of integrity . . .
And as a good friend of mine used to say---"You can't fix stupid"

Life . . .

“To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children...to leave the world a better place...to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.”

Ali Rap . . .

I have seen a few TV specials lately on Muhammad Ali and they have been great--Here are a few great quotes form a man who took it to the top and believed in himself as much as any person could...

PS. Out of all the humor----Look closely at the deep rooted truths in these...it is phenomenal...

If they can make penicillin out of mouldy bread, they can sure make something out of you. Muhammad Ali

A man who views the world the same at fifty as he did at twenty has wasted thirty years of his life. Muhammad Ali

A rooster crows only when it sees the light. Put him in the dark and he'll never crow. I have seen the light and I'm crowing. Muhammad Ali

Age is whatever you think it is. You are as old as you think you are. Muhammad Ali

If you even dream of beating me you'd better wake up and apologize. Muhammad Ali

I run on the road, long before I dance under the lights. Muhammad Ali

I'll be floating like a butterfly and stinging like a bee. Muhammad Ali

I'll beat him so bad he'll need a shoehorn to put his hat on. Muhammad Ali

I'm not the greatest; I'm the double greatest. Not only do I knock 'em out, I pick the round. Muhammad Ali

I'm so fast that last night I turned off the light switch in my hotel room and was in bed before the room was dark. Muhammad Ali

Champions aren't made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them-a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have last-minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill. Muhammad Ali

It's lack of faith that makes people afraid of meeting challenges, and I believed in myself. Muhammad Ali

It's not bragging if you can back it up. Muhammad Ali

It's the repetition of affirmations that leads to belief. And once that belief becomes a deep conviction, things begin to happen. Muhammad Ali

When you can whip any man in the world, you never know peace. Muhammad Ali

Superman don't need no seat belt. Muhammad Ali

Right is Right . . . No matter when...

You know --one of the things that I feel people and the church handle the wrong way --is very simply --Change...

We are horrible --and Im guilty too-- of looking at peoples' past and putting them in a box...

The example I'm talking about is this...Someone is living a certain way we dont agree with..then they reach a place where they want to do better and they start changing their lifestyle...what we like to do is say---"Yeah --youre not doing it today --but you thought it was fine yesterday"---and we chalk it up to them being unstable...
We have ALL been there at those crossroads---if youre life is good now--it only means you stood at that point of decision before and chose the right road...so we should root for people--cheer for them --bring them up and say "Congratulations" ---youre doing great...
Dont ever forget---You were there once and probably many times before..

and to quote Stephen R . Covey...

“Until a person can say deeply and honestly, "I am what I am today because of the choices I made yesterday," that person cannot say, "I choose otherwise”
