Grow Up . . .

I've been around so many immature people and situations lately--I felt like a few quotes were in order....

Immaturity is the incapacity to use one's intelligence without the guidance of another.”

The trouble with grown-ups was that under the magnificent shell of adulthood, just under,Waited the baby full of tantrums.

"The real menace in dealing with a five-year-old is that in no time at all you begin to sound like a five-year-old."

"One of my Pastors (Eddie Cupples) said something similar to this on many occasions --"Get over it...Life is not fair...Make the best of it."

And my other Pastor(Rob Yanok) says "Forgive...Get over it....& Move On!"

Yes-- I am blessed to have 2 Pastors that I respect and admire...and they both put good stuff in me and my son --and I believe in them...

Years . . .

These are O'neals shelves in his room---Now to a lot of people this would signify how great "MY" son is---but for me thats not it.

O'Neal is good--and will be great at anything he puts his mind to...but to me this signifies something bigger--me and him spending good quality time together. We played and had fun--I can look at each one of these and remember what O'neal looked like at each age and what funny and cool things he and I and a certain team did. It's a timeline through the years--with my family..Poppy, Uncle Jim, Chris, Dan, Todd, and a lot of other people that spent time investing in my son--and believing in him----These are our years---and nobody will be able to take away all the great memories....Time WELL spent---Lots more to come....

One of my many Thanksgivings...

This is my Mom's Mom--Nana Brooks. She went through a tough accident last year and had us all scared--but she has settled in and is doing well--They take really good care of her and so does my Mom... but if you know my Mom --thats the way she is made--she took really good care of me when I was very sick as a child---

Me and O went and ate a Thanksgiving meal with her..it was a lot of fun, great food, and we won a door prize--Nana grabbed onto it and wanted it in her room...I wouldnt have it any other way...

I am very thankful she is doing well..

God and Grit...

Well..I havent blogged much this week because I have just been covered up with Life---You know how it is...

First I got to see all my good friends in Nashville last weekend---Michael and Pickle are fantastic---I have a lot of respect for those 2--Thanks for the Demos' meal and the HUGE home cooked breakfast--and for being a solid couple---you guys are strong---I like that about you..
My son thinks Michael is the Man---Michael gave him a Skull cap and he has wanted to wear it everywhere...

Speaking of strong couples---I have been surrounded by them this week--The normal ones--My Pastors Rob and Tricia/Eddie and Sherri, My Mom and Dad, My Sister Amy and her husband Jim...But the couple Ive seen more and prayed for more this week is my good friends Chris and Angie...We got the word on Wed afternoon that Chris had been hurt severely at work--they airlifted him to Jackson---I dropped what I was doing at work and took off..when I first got there--it did not look good--he was hurt bad and she was worried sick---we finally got back to see him and found out he has 2 punctured lungs, lots of broken ribs and lots of internal injuries---while he slept we all gathered around and prayed---One of my friends I had never heard pray led the prayer...when I left that night to come home --I didnt have a great feeling about what was going to happen---but he is a fighter--and I mean a fighter--I've coached ball with him and against him---he does not like to lose---at anything. Well--I went back over last night, He is still in ICU, but he was awake and trying to make jokes-----with God's help and his grit---He is gonna be fine...

I think if you combine God's power and Our Grittiness...we are unstoppable...

I watched as the kids and his wife came together as a family...I knew they had it together--but I was very impressed... They rose up to a new challenge as a family---all for one and one for all...

Very cool...huh.

Now I'm off to watch a UFC fight, eat wings, pizza and hang with my family.
Matt Hughes ---do your thing....!!!

Great Friends . . . Great Hospitality...

Good One From Dad . . .

Big Events.
I was cheering the radio yesterday. No. It wasn't a radio evangelist. I'll confess. I was listening to a Titan football game. They're in a "rebuilding program".(Which means they get beat a lot.)
But "Little David" almost whipped a "#1 Goliath team". The winner was not detemined until the final seconds. I'm not much of as football fan, but my Son (A Titan fan) was there with the Grandson. I wanted them to see a big win. It was a great game anyway. A 27-26 final loss.
I'd have liked to have been there. The excitement was overwhelming. I like huge events. People say,
"Well, I can see it better at home watching it on TV. It's not the same!!" I went once and found myself standing with both hands in the air cheering wildly after a field goal.
There is no substitute for being there. That's why I'm not watching Heaven on video. I'M GOING!!! JESUS: THE ULTIMATE VOLUNTEER(As my "sports cap" says) paid a high price for my ticket.
I had the cap on at a Macy's store. Titans were signing autographs. I got some for Joel(son) & O'neal(Grandson). Erron Kinney graciously signed them. He commented to another guy, "Did you read his cap"? The former Florida standout added, "I'm not much of a Tennessee fan, but I like your cap." Apparently the 6'-6"m 275 lbs young man is not planning on watching heaven on video either.
It's going to be a great happening! I like cheering for teams, but Praising God is much better! There's going to be a lot of that in Heaven. It's exciting th think about!!!

Rev.5:8 And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.
14. And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.

See there. I'm back. Let have a Heavenly "pep rally" and prepare for the BIG WIN.
Your internet Pastor...Max

Are you ready for some football....I AM!!!

Me and O are headed up to "Nash-Vegas" tomorrow to hang out with Michael and Pickle, eat at my favorite restaurant---Demos'--then, thanks to a very good friend, I have tickets to go watch the Titans play the Ravens on Sunday....

I hate the Ravens, but now they have even got three of the best Titans players ever...Steve Mcnair, Derrick Mason, and Samari Rolle----I cant wait to see what happens...

Vince Young, Drew Bennett and the rest of the Titans better show up to play ball--Or Steve and the boys will kill them....

I love football--all kinds and Sunday will be Fantastic--win or lose...me and my son hanging out and watching the "Big Show"...

FYI--Next football game---Me and O are headed to Green Bay to see Brett Favre and the Packers---

Pics and comments later....

Winners...

History has demonstrated that the most notable winners usually encountered heartbreaking obstacles before they triumphed. They won because they refused to become discouraged by their defeats.

My Favorite . . .

There are some sports figures that represent greatness...Peyton Manning...is incredible --a workhorse and at the top of his game...Steve McNair --I've have watched him play in his prime at the Coliseum...But there is one Player that is my all time favorite...Brett Favre---He epitomizes the can-do, no-quit attitude. He has a great sense of humor, a strong love for his family, and a strong love for the game of football. I just bought the DVD titled Favre 4Ever...It is great...So while he may not have the best years sometime---I dont either ..Its somebody I can relate to... I would rather look up to someone who is consistent and good over a long periond of time, than someone who is great for a short period of time...

All Star game

Well--The Hardin County Junior Tiger team had their all-star game and beat Adamsville 12-0. It was O'Neals first time representing Hardin County---and I am very proud.
They played awesome and the boys looked good together out on that field wearing maroon...

Oneal played on the offensive line..and was across from a guy that was at least 6-8 inches taller and outweighed him by 50-60 pounds. The coach called him over and asked him if he could handle it...and he said--"Yes Sir---I can handle him"...and you know what he did a dang good job.

That is exactly what I wanted football to do for him---give him confidence to know that it doesnt matter how big the "Giant" is in front of him---He can handle it---goes for football and everything else in life.....

Immaturity . . .

Irritability is immaturity of character. If you are subject to being cross and unpleasant with others for no apparent reason, you need to come face-to-face with the fact that you are thinking too much of yourself. After all, your feelings are not the most important thing in this world.
